How to Live a Healthier Life Every Day?
A successful day begins with a daily routine that supports and nourishes you throughout the day. Even if you can’t exactly follow this routine, adapting it in whatever way you can will bring a noticeable difference to your day and your overall well-being. It keeps the body fit and cleanses the blood. The mind becomes calm and centered. Give it a try!
Early Start. Start the day as early as you can. Getting up at 4:00 am or 4:30 am will set the tone for the rest of the day. Rising early gives you a jump start as the early morning energies are of a far different character. It’s a more active energy. Getting up after 6:00 am invites laziness into the day.
Oil Pulling. Use sesame oil from an Indian grocery store. Take one table spoon of oil and swoosh it around in your mouth for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes white and froozy. Spit it out. Do not swallow it as it contains poisons from your system.
Brush Teeth. Use a natural toothpaste like Neem Toothpaste. Best is a fluoride-free toothpaste so the pinal gland does not get calcified. This helps to awaken the 3rd eye. Another great option is home-made toothpaste. A simple recipe is available here.
Cleanse Tongue. Use a tongue scraper. This helps eliminate bad breath. Bad breath comes from the stomach.
Nasal Rinse. Use a neti pot and a small amount of salt to rinse your nose. This cleansing technique is very helpful when you have a cold. Given of course that your nasal passages are not blocked, you can use it to drain access nasal mucus.
Haritaki Powder. Haritaki Plus, also known as chebulic myrobalan, terminalia chebula, and kadukkai has many health benefits. In the Ayurveda system it is the “King of Herbs” recommended for ALL health issues. It also known for its benefit to increase brain performance, increase longevity, awaken the third eye and intuition. Dissolve in water, drink and look out for that sweet aftertaste. Neem Tea. Brew a fresh cup of neem tea every morning to help cleanse your liver. This tea is vata aggravating but is ok if you add warming cinnamon to the tea.
Yoga & Weightlifting. Go for yoga stretching while bringing your focus into your body, into your self. Incorporate weights especially for the upper body. Building your body this way is a great foundation to prepare yourself to hold the high energy of enlightenment. As an alternative are recommended 108 Sun Salutations or going jogging or vigorously swimming.
Sesame Seed Balls. These are a delicious and healthy reward for this early morning routine. Try the simple recipe here.
Enema. An enema keeps your colon clean. Recommended is also a professional colon therapy a few times a year.
Shower. Cooler water is better. This can be preceded by an ayurvedic oil massage.
Spiritual Ritual. Any kind of spiritual or religious ritual will set the day for you. This can be a 30 minute meditation or guru puja.
Breakfast. A satvic vegetarian breakfast like a fruit smoothie or a bowl of fresh fruit cut up in bid size pieces gives a light breakfast. Cooler fall and winter seasons require a more substantial breakfast like a hot oatmeal, idli or a quinoa dish.
Work Routine / Spiritual Practice. While performing your work routine you can easily chant a mantra or perform ajapa japa to stay focused all day on your higher self or chosen divinity. Awareness practices or unclutching meditations can be performed while working. Be assured you will not disturb your co-workers or your boss. These practices go unnoticed by anyone.
Dinner. Prepare a freshly cooked wholesome satvic vegetarian dish accompanied by a raw salad – or opt for an all raw organic meal. Best time for dinner is between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
Evening Meditation / Satsang. Join a satsang group or have a private meditation for at least 30 minutes or for the rest of the evening. Watch a spiritual movie with the family or a spiritual discourse.
Haritaki. Best time to have a cup of haritaki is in the evening. It can work on you all night.
