Return to Happiness
How can we return to happiness? In the ancient scriptures of India we read again and again that we are eternally blissful consciousness having a physical experience on this planet Earth.
- Our true nature is that of true, unconditional happiness. Inherently we know we are happy beings because with whatever we think or do we try to regain this happiness and eternal bliss.
- It’s the same with eternal life. Intuitively we do know we live forever, that is the soul or consciousness that knows this truth, not this body.
- Another knowing is that of inner peace. We desire this because our inner core is that of peace, only the restless mind gets in the way.
The Illusion of the Ego Mind
In reality this ego-mind does not exist. After leaving the physical body only consciousness remains and after only three kshanas, the length of the gap between two thoughts, consciousness takes a new body to continue to work out its karma. It then creates a new ego-mind.
The mind gets conditioned by society and the inborn happiness again gets covered in illusions. Though we do not consciously remember that eternal bliss, somehow we do all kinds of things to be happy. Returning to this happiness becomes the goal.
Layers of illusions, conditioning, and beliefs need to be removed. The more layers are removed, the lighter and happier the being becomes. Often experiences in our early childhood are the beginning of those layers covering more and more our bliss. Look into the eyes of a child. By the age it becomes a teenager or young adult the shining bliss of the soul reflected in the child’s eyes has faded away and become more and more dead. The eyes are truly the gates to the soul.
What is a Quick Way to Happiness?
It is enriching others. Helping others with something always makes us feel good, doesn’t it. Can we maintain this all-day-long? Well, as long as there is a strong ego, no. Once the ego illusions start to vanish, more enriching happens naturally until we fully awaken and enriching others IS our life. Let’s return to happiness.
