When is the Best Time to Get Up in the Morning?

Have you noticed that in the early hours of the morning there is a different energy? In the Vedic tradition we call the time before sunrise Brahma Muhurta. When you get up before sunrise or approximately between 4:30 am and 6:00 am you surprisingly feel more energetic and joyful which sets your mood and success for the day. Laughter and a good mood are contagious.

When you get up late and sleep in, the energy has changed to make you feel more lethargic. That’s even while during the weekend when you sleep long hours you still feel as if you haven’t rested enough.

Ayurveda tells us that from 2 am to 6 am is a time period ruled by the active vata principle. From 6 am to 10 am there is the slower and dulling kapha principle predominant. This further explains about Brahma Muhurta. Successful people like to get up during the wee hours of the morning and are very productive during this time.

So make your day and someone elses, listen to nature (not your mind or TV commercials), rise early and shine before the sun does.
